According to some latest reports, YouTube.com is planning to introduce new advertising system on all its hosted video clips. While the exact details and workings are still under developments it is expected for YouTube.com to share the profits from such campaigns with the video creators.
YouTube.com was established approximately 3 years ago by two young man Chad Hurley and Steve Chan. The immediate success of their newly created videoclip hosting site could not escape attention of all the existing Internet giants. The biggest of all, Google also struck a deal and in November 2005 purchased YouTube for an estimated US$1.65 billion dollars.
To this day it appears that only revenue stream for YouTube are the contextual, AdSense-like adds on their pages. However this is about to change very soon as Google, in its quest for complete Internet dominance, is going to pull in some more advertising dollars by embedding the adds into the YouTube hosted clips.
As per this BBC report, YouTube.com has not yet finalized all the details of the proposed systém, so the exact nature of commercializing one’s clips is not known yet. At this stage it appears that the founders are quite receptive to idea of having an inbuilt, they say non-intrusive, 3 seconds add to run at the beginning of each clip.
So what is the good news? Well, if all works as planned, you and I should soon be able earn few dollars from our video creations uploaded to YouTube. Not unlike the AGLOCO get paid for browsing Internet program, it will provide the aspiring movie director in you with money for activity you have been gladly doing for free.
However if you were not happy with YouTube before and the proposed increase in commercializing exhausted your patience you may want to look at some existing alternatives such as Revver, Zippyvideos, Bolt and others.
